Further to a recent meeting of the Bedford Borough Partnership Board, we are in the process of co-ordinating and developing a Bedford bid for funding under the recently announced £1.2bn DWP Future Jobs Fund.
The Future Jobs Fund is a new initiative which aims to help generate jobs for those in greatest need, particularly young people, and also in areas of high unemployment.
Where a job is created and filled under the scheme, your organisation will be entitled to claim back the cost of employing that individual at the National Minimum Wage for a 6 month period at 25hrs per week plus NI contributions (minimum valued at around £4,000).
If you are able to:-
We want to hear from you.
Types of jobs
Examples of the types of jobs that may be eligible include those delivering public services i.e. care or education services, community outreach or development, projects that reinvest in the community and support community organisations or “green jobs” such as ground and park maintenance or environmental projects.
The majority of potential employees will be referred by Job Centre Plus to ensure eligibility under the scheme. Your organisation would be the direct employer of the individual with responsibility for the interview and selection of the person to ensure that you have the right candidate. There may be an opportunity for the candidate to access limited training provision to assist the transition to employment, however this is currently in development.
Timeframe
It is anticipated that a bid will be submitted in mid July. This means that, if successful, jobs can start being delivered on the ground from late October 2009. Attached is a proforma template required for each proposed job created. Please complete and return the template to the below email by close of play on 10am Monday 6th July at the very latest.
In compliance with the Equal Pay Act, should the position you have identified merit payment above national minimum wage, the Future Jobs Fund would then act as a contribution towards the cost of employing the individual. Please state if this is the case in the proforma template and the level of matched funding that would be available.
If you would like to discuss any potential jobs, please do not hesitate to contact Lindsay Mitton on (01234) 276918.
The template at the bottom of this email provides a guide of what you will need to demonstrate.
